DomainKeys Identified Mail
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) - read more about it, what it does, what it does and how to enable it for your mailboxes.
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an authentication system used to verify that an e-mail message has been sent by an authorized person or server. A digital signature is added to the header of the email using a private key. When the message is received, a public key that’s available in the global DNS database is used to confirm who exactly sent it and if its content has been modified in some way. The principal job of DomainKeys Identified Mail is to obstruct the widely spread spam and scam messages, as it makes it impossible to fake an email address. If a message is sent from an email address claiming to belong to your bank, for instance, but the signature does not correspond, you will either not receive the message at all, or you’ll receive it with a warning notification that most likely it is not an authentic one. It depends on email providers what exactly will happen with an email that fails to pass the signature test. DomainKeys Identified Mail will also supply you with an added security layer when you communicate with your business allies, for example, as they can see for themselves that all the e-mail messages that you send are genuine and have not been modified on their way.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Shared Hosting
The DomainKeys Identified Mail feature is enabled by default for all domains that are hosted in a
shared hosting account on our cloud web hosting platform, so you will not have to do anything on your end to enable it. The only requirement is that the particular domain should be hosted in a hosting account on our platform using our MX and NS resource records, so that the e-mail messages will go through our mail servers. The private encryption key will be created on the server and the TXT resource record, which contains the public key, will be published to the global DNS system automatically, so you will not have to do anything manually on your end in order to enable this option. The DKIM email validation system will permit you to send out credible e-mail messages, so if you are sending offers or a newsletter to clients, for example, your email messages will always reach their target destination, while unauthorized 3rd parties won’t be able to spoof your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Servers
All necessary DKIM records will be created automatically by our cloud hosting platform when you add a domain as hosted in a
semi-dedicated server account, so in case you choose to get a semi-dedicated package, you will not need to configure anything to be able to take advantage of the email authentication system. The domain must use our name servers so that its DNS records can be managed by our company and as long as this prerequisite is answered, a private key will be generated on our mail servers and a public key will be published to the global Domain Name System by a special TXT resource record. All email addresses that you set up using the domain will be protected by DomainKeys Identified Mail, which will make it impossible for third parties to forge any address. Both you and your partners or customers can take advantage of this feature, as it will ensure a higher security level for your electronic correspondence.
